How PY navigation practices are organized
The Barcelona – Balearic Islands – Barcelona crossing will last 48 hours, with a minimum of 8 hours of night navigation.
The estimated departure from Port Olímpic will be on a Friday around 7:00 p.m. aboard a cruising sailboat of more than 40 feet.
The meeting point is at the Marina Dock of the Port Olímpic of Barcelona.
The destination will be the island of Majorca or Menorca.
In summary, the navigation and rest periods will be a minimum of 18 hours without stopping on the way out, anchoring upon arrival, and if possible, we will go down to the Island to eat, but whoever prefers to eat on board can do so. For the return, another 18 hours of navigation, also non-stop, carrying out the planned agenda of the practices on both voyages.
The sailboats are equipped with all the regulatory security measures, both for personal security elements and for communications. They have a location system that allows us to know where they are at all times.
Depending on the weather forecast, it is advisable to bring a raincoat and warm clothes. In addition to comfortable clothing appropriate for a journey and appropriate footwear.
During the navigation you will be able to rest while others will guard on deck, you will take turns.
As for food, it is recommended that you cook little on the boat, try to bring prepared food or things that are easy to do. The school will put coffee pot, coffee, infusions and sugar on the sailboat.

The island internships couldn't have gone better. Roger is a fantastic teacher and a better person. We have learned a lot while living a unique experience that we will always remember. I only have words of gratitude.

I want to give my opinion regarding the Yacht Skipper course carried out. Carried out online, which allowed us to optimize time with the same training as in person. The practice carried out in a Bavaria 50, a luxury boat for any nautical school, very well maintained in perfect condition of cleanliness and equipment. Captain's capacity, as is the school's norm, is excellent, with experience in training and as a sailor, knowledgeable in all the aspects associated with an educational voyage for students. Great ability to organize the crew with the delegation of roles and functions. I present navigation alternatives depending on the weather and navigation conditions to take advantage of the opportunities for different experiences on board, such as going to a cove outside the program or altering the return route. In addition to the crossing, I include entry into other ports, favoring the situation of various ports with dead reckoning navigation and modification of the route to dock in alternative ports.
Colorario, there is always a plus to exceed expectations, as has been the case in every activity developed by Escola Port.

Perfect organization. I value the teacher's competence and attitude very positively. Polite, proactive and collaborative practice partners.
I found that the number of students was too high.

Overall, I rate my PY practice as a very positive experience. The days before boarding we received, from the school, information on the material we had to bring and weather information. The weather we were subjected to during the navigation was changeable, from strong waves received by the port quarter, through calm and then before reaching Barcelona, showers with gusty winds. We had a breakdown in the engine electronics and we notified maritime rescue, who came for us and towed us to the port of Mallorca, there a mechanic repaired our fault and we were quickly able to return. The company was very pleasant and Captain Raúl demonstrated his seafaring knowledge as well as sharing it with us. Due to Covid-19 we were not able to use the showers, perhaps it was the biggest mistake I had during the voyage, otherwise, the Fora Nirvis proved to be a warrior ship, willing to weather or ride any storm. Looking forward to advancing my training and being able to do my Yacht Captain practices with the school.

With the ability of an instructor like Raúl, the organization and development of the practice has given a positive result to my personal training, as a yacht skipper, acquiring complete experience in the practice. The boat, although it had a small specific problem in The crossing due to a strong storm (force 7, 3 m waves) from the previous night, has a navigation that transmits a lot of security, the experience was somewhat hard in that period but very Seafaring…Despite the Covid 19 regulations , the use of the services has been sufficiently covered, the boat is spacious and comfortable. I would definitely repeat the practice.

As already happened with the PER practices carried out at the Escolaport, I value this Yacht Skipper's internship positively. The money invested has corresponded with the learning acquired. I believe that the five sections required by the content of the practice have been developed in a didactic manner. The boat, the material, the organization of the school, the schedules, the security, etc. It seemed correct to me. Due to the weather conditions that we had, the practice had difficult moments, I think that with these conditions and the risk assumed by the school to go sailing to make the practice crossing, in my case it means even more learning. Professor Raúl Serrano has a lot of work capacity, a lot of knowledge to teach future sailors, a man who transmits security, gives the feeling that he has almost everything under control at all times, the other nine crew members, each and every one of them, are extraordinary as well, very good conduct on the part of everyone, sailing enthusiasts, lucky. I have experienced the practice of Yacht Skipper in an intense and satisfactory way. Thank you

Very didactic practice, Raúl explains things very well and we take advantage of moments to expand knowledge. Very well organized.
