Basic safety training STCW A-VI/1
Theoretical and practical course in which you will learn about emergency situations on board and prepare you to respond, immediately applying the procedures and actions that minimize possible dangers in matters of firefighting, rescue, survival and accident prevention on board.
70h (45 theory + 25 practices).

Yacht skipper course
All courses include: vídeo streaming en directo tutorials, all the online syllabus, explanatory videos, exam test, didactic material, mandatory practices and a review class before the exam.
PY theory + practices
Theoretical course 30 h:
Face-to-face or vídeo streaming en directo, weekdays or weekends.
Mandatory practices:
Navigation: 48 hours.
Complementary practices:
Sailing: 4:00 p.m.
The prices do not include management expenses, such as exam fees, issuance of title, certificate processing, among others.
Issuance of the PY, STCW certificate and authorization
PY PRO is a trade term that refers to the title Yacht skipper with attached ratings.
Once you have passed the exam and completed the practices, you will be able to issue your Yacht Skipper title. With the PY title and the STCW Basic Safety Training certificate, you must submit an application for attached qualifications addressed to the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
Issuance of the skipper/one yacht title (in Catalonia)
Term
You have a maximum of 24 months to issue the title, counted from the date you pass the exam or complete the practices (whichever you did first).
Documentation
- Valid ID, residence card or passport.
- Receipt of payment of the corresponding fee.
- Nautical Medical Certificate carried out in Driver Recognition Centers (CRC).
- It is not necessary if less than 2 years have passed since the date of issue of a previous title.
- If you carry out the procedure on your own, the medical certificate must be provided in digital format through the application for the issuance of certificates of nautica.gencat.cat
- If you delegate the issuance process to EscolaPort, you must present the original document to the school.

You must present the following documentation at the Maritime Captaincy:
- Application form for Specialty Certificates.
- Photocopy of valid DNI, NIE or passport.
- Photocopy of the diploma of the "Basic Safety Training" course, according to order FOM/2296/2002, issued by Escola Port.
- Proof of payment of fees for Professional and Recreational Maritime Titles.
MARITIME BOOK
The Maritime Book is the official identity document of the sailor, internationally accepted, in which the shipments and landings of the holder are recorded. It is issued by the DGMM and must be requested at the Maritime Captaincy once the cCertificate of Basic Safety Training.
In order to board, you must pass a maritime boarding medical examination (free) that is carried out at the ISM Maritime Health Centers, belonging to the Social Security.

Overall, I rate my PY practice as a very positive experience. The days before boarding we received, from the school, information on the material we had to bring and weather information. The weather we were subjected to during the navigation was changeable, from strong waves received by the port quarter, through calm and then before reaching Barcelona, showers with gusty winds. We had a breakdown in the engine electronics and we notified maritime rescue, who came for us and towed us to the port of Mallorca, there a mechanic repaired our fault and we were quickly able to return. The company was very pleasant and Captain Raúl demonstrated his seafaring knowledge as well as sharing it with us. Due to Covid-19 we were not able to use the showers, perhaps it was the biggest mistake I had during the voyage, otherwise, the Fora Nirvis proved to be a warrior ship, willing to weather or ride any storm. Looking forward to advancing my training and being able to do my Yacht Captain practices with the school.

I loved the sailing practices. The truth is that I didn't think they were so complete. Both monitors are super good. A couple of days there was strong wind and it was ideal for sailing in tougher conditions.

The boat, although it had a small specific problem in The crossing due to a strong storm (force 7, 3 m waves) from the previous night, has a navigation that transmits a lot of security, the experience was somewhat hard in that period but very Seafaring…Despite the Covid 19 regulations , the use of the services has been sufficiently covered, the boat is spacious and comfortable. I would definitely repeat the practice.

As already happened with the PER practices carried out at the Escolaport, I value this Yacht Skipper's internship positively. The money invested has corresponded with the learning acquired. I believe that the five sections required by the content of the practice have been developed in a didactic manner. The boat, the material, the organization of the school, the schedules, the security, etc. It seemed correct to me. Due to the weather conditions that we had, the practice had difficult moments, I think that with these conditions and the risk assumed by the school to go sailing to make the practice crossing, in my case it means even more learning. Professor Raúl Serrano has a lot of work capacity, a lot of knowledge to teach future sailors, a man who transmits security, gives the feeling that he has almost everything under control at all times, the other nine crew members, each and every one of them, are extraordinary as well, very good conduct on the part of everyone, sailing enthusiasts, lucky. The experience I had this weekend, with my first sailing practice, is 10/10. Starting from the base that, arriving a little late due to the 8M demonstration, they waited for me at the dock and took me on the motorboat to the sailboat. Once there, we performed various maneuvers, with their respective very enriching explanations. The feeling you get when doing the internship with Escola Port is that you truly belong to a yacht club, it is more than just a company, it is the joint enjoyment of an activity, for those of us who love the sea.
