Agenda of the sailing practices of the PER
The objective of the practices is that you identify what are the safety guidelines on board and that you are able to avoid risks during sailing. Special emphasis will be placed on tacking and jibing maneuvers, since during these there is a greater risk of accidents and breakdowns.
During the 16 hours of internship you will learn:
- Courses of the boat depending on the wind and maneuvers.
- Boat elements related to sailing: rigging, rigging, sails... and the most common knots.
- How sails are folded and cared for.
- How to hoist and lower the sails.
- How sail balance influences gait.
- How the boat reacts when you put the rudder to one side or another and its effect on speed reduction.
- Adjust sails depending on the course and the use of the ropes.
- How to take the waves depending on the course and its influence on the progress of the boat.
- How to carry out advanced maneuvers under sail: tackling, pairing, anchoring, leaving the anchorage under sail and safety maneuvers such as collecting man overboard, putting reefs, etc.

How the sailing practices to the Balearic Islands + sailing are organized
- The Barcelona – Balearic Islands – Barcelona crossing will last 48 hours, with a minimum of 8 hours of night navigation.
- The estimated departure from Port Olímpic will be on a Friday around 7:00 p.m. aboard a cruising sailboat of more than 40 feet.
- The meeting point is at the Marina Dock of the Port Olímpic of Barcelona.
- The sailboats are equipped with all the regulatory security measures, both for personal security elements and for communications. They have a location system that allows us to know where they are at all times.
- Depending on the weather forecast, it is advisable to bring a raincoat and warm clothes. In addition to comfortable clothing appropriate for a journey and appropriate footwear.
- During the navigation you will be able to rest while others will guard on deck, you will take turns.

Enrique Mayor –
They have been very entertaining and enjoyable, I really liked the afternoon schedule in which we had the opportunity to experience night and day navigation. Matías was very attentive to everyone, even reviewing part of the theory. Now I am looking forward to doing islands for 48 hours.
Cristian Pérez Alarcón –
It has been a unique experience, they helped me know how to choose well the practices I had to do, I have learned a lot and in this case, the teacher, Matías, a great professional, explained himself very well and helped us at all times.
Carlos Vallbona –
Matthias explains perfectly the maneuvers that must be carried out on any boat. Matthias ensures that the nautical day passes in a relaxed atmosphere, taking into account the necessary safety measures. 16 hours of very enriching practice.
Pablo –
Everything perfect, the teacher a 10. Delighted
Marcos Becerro –
The incredible teachers: very professional, attentive, friendly (and patient)... a 10. The fantastic facilities and the classrooms in very good condition. Everything was great in my ROCA internship.
Michael Perez –
Despite some small computer problems, everything was very correct. Matthias, the teacher, making the 1st day enjoyable with the entire presentation of the theoretical part. The rest of the days, we had fun practicing in the simulators an endless number of possible real situations, to be able to face them safely, if necessary, in navigation.
Gabriel Agustin Bedia –
EVERYTHING PERFECT!!
Michael Perez –
A great experience! It is advisable to do the PER Motor practices at Escola Port. We have done them on the Artimó, which although it is a few years old, is a sailboat that has behaved well, even in adverse sea conditions. The skipper, Matthias, a charming teacher, who has captained the ship with a good dose of good humor, but maintaining the seriousness and respect that we owe to the sea. A pleasure to learn navigation with him and with my fellow travelers. I hope to find a space in my agenda to repeat, but this time, with Sailing practices. Bon vent and oratge, and sea for sailing!
Nicolás U. Mayor –
The school is fantastic. The administration staff, the director, the sailors and Matías (the only skipper I know and also a teacher of the ROCA course) have been sensational. I am very happy with the price of the courses (I think it is one of the most competitive in Catalonia) as well as the boats, the schedules, the possibility of different types of courses throughout the term as well as the dynamics of the practices and theoretical classes. I have also been very happy with my colleagues, although that is not an opinion of Escola Port. In short, it was a good decision to have chosen them. I recommend the school at 100%.
Javier Vazquez –
It has been a very good experience. The entire practice has been very dynamic and the truth is that with Matias, the pattern that the practice has given us, we learn a lot. My evaluation is very positive.
